Founder Story

Born in the Mountains: The Story of Northwind Kashmir

Northwind Kashmir was founded by **Yasir Hamid**, a native of Tangmarg with a lifelong connection to the Pir Panjal range. After spending over a decade guiding international mountaineers and skiing enthusiasts through Gulmarg's backcountry, Yasir realized that most travelers visiting Kashmir were missing out on the genuine local perspective.

"I wanted to build a travel agency that operated with transparency, employed local mountain guides, and treated visitors as guests in our home," Yasir says. Today, Northwind Kashmir stands as one of the most reliable ground operators in the region, managing every vehicle, hotel partner, and trek directly from our Chandilora base, bypassing third-party agencies entirely.
